The San Francisco Chocolate Factory is a chocolate company with deep roots in the City by the Bay. We are dedicated to building community and helping friends savor the special events and moments in life.
The company was founded by Mike Litton, a New York native who lived and worked in cities spanning the globe. In 1987, soon after arriving and putting down roots in San Francisco, Mr. Litton founded Bridge International Company, an import-export company that develops commercial channels to promote and sell raw materials and manufactured goods to industries throughout the world. One of the commodities Bridge International specialized in was cocoa beans, and by the late 1990s, they were the primary supplier of cocoa beans to many local chocolate companies, including Guittard, a company with San Francisco roots dating back to the 1800s.
Passionate about chocolate and determined to deliver chocolate produced from the finest cocoa beans sourced worldwide, The San Francisco Chocolate Factory was born in 1999 as a family business, with Mr. Litton packing the first tins of chocolate by himself with his children. In the nearly 30 years since our founding, we have grown, but have not lost sight of our roots – a passion for great chocolate, a love for the city of San Francisco and a desire to help the community, and spread the word about our quality products.
